Maa kichakeswari temple is one of the most famous temple in northern Orissa of india, is dedicated to Goddess Kichakeswari(another name hindu goddess Parvati) the most sacred Goddess of Mayurbhanj dynasty. This temple is one of the oldest temple in india. It is located in the middle of bahalda town of mayurbhanj district, 97 KM away from Baripada, the district headquarters. Bahalda was the capital of Mayurbhanj dynasty in the 14th century.
The original temple was built probably during the 7th or 8th century entirely by unique chlorite slabs. 
The present Kichakeswari temple is reconstructed from the ruins of an earlier temple in the early 20th century. The reconstruction used traditional technique of moving stone elements with the help of huge earthen lamps. Once upon a time there was eight temple at Khiching, the large one is dedicated to Kichakeswari. It is the most impressive monument of Khiching riched with architectural splendor and exquisite beauty chiseled on its outer surface.
